As part of the week-long visit to Australia of the Israeli Minister of Industry, Trade and Labor, Minister Shalom Simhon met with the leaders of the Jewish Communities in both Victoria and New South Wales.
The Minister met with senior figures from the Victorian Jewish Community at a small reception held in his honour at Beth Weizmann Community Centre. The Minister commented to the audience about the importance of a strong Jewish community in the diaspora, and how he knows that Australian Jews are very charitable towards the State of Israel. Minister Simhon was formally welcomed by Mr Sam Tatarka, President of the Zionist Council of Victoria and Ian Samuel OAM, Chairperson of the Information Department of the Zionist Federation of Australia.
During his visit to Sydney, Minister Simhon met with the leaders of the NSW Jewish Communal Organisations. Mr Yair Miller, President of the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies introduced and welcomed the Minister to small gathering. The Minister re-committed his support to the strong relationships between the Governments of the State of Israel and that of Australia, and once again encouraged the NSW Jewish community to continue their vocal and strong support for the State of Israel.
New South Wales
