Israel’s Dental Industry: Crowning Innovation

The Israeli Oral and Dental Industry includes more than 120 manufacturing firms. Numerous companies have reached international recognition and acceptance, and have become leaders in their field. Notable acquisitions of Israeli companies in the dental sector took place in recent years from the known implants of AlphaBio by Nobel Biocare, to MIS by Dentsply Sirona for $375M in 2016, to last year ‘s merge of the Israeli Paltop Implants to the US Keystone Dental, forming a global dental implant player with nearly $50 million. Other giants in other dental sectors like Carestream and Align also acquired Israeli companies and kept their R&D center in Israel.

Furthermore, Israel being a start-up nation has a vibrant dental ecosystem of whom 30% are start-up companies with innovations.

While the Israeli dental implant sector is leading with about 30% in the number of companies, together with the related sectors in equipment, devices, tools and regenerative solutions, it amounts to almost 50%.

Other dental sectors are growing (such as Oral Care, Restoratives, and Infection Control). The latter is offering solutions useful in times of COVID.

However, the fastest growth is in the use of digital technologies and accounts now for 13% from our dental sector from AI software that offer diagnostics & treatment planning in 3D, to platforms that assist the workflow between Clinics and Labs, to intraoral scanners, to 3D printing, and even tele-dentistry. Altogether they offer more efficient processes for more value.

Asia is the a growing commercial destination for Israel’s dental industry. Israeli dental companies are looking for distributors and/or strategic partnerships to enhance their growth and some offer OEM.
