Following the highly successful inaugural Peace Team in 2008, The Peres Centre is now working on the 2011 AFL Peace Team for this year’s AFL International Cup.

By way of brief background the 2008 Peace Team consisted of 13 Israeli and 13 Palestinians that competed as a united Peace Team, making Australian sporting history. The AFL International Cup is an AFL high-profile major event that takes place every three years, and in 2011 will feature prominently during the Final’s season.  The event will be staged in Melbourne and Western Sydney over a two-week period from 12 – 27 August. It is expected that 24 countries will compete, including a number of countries for the first time
