The perennially popular Red Sea International Jazz Festival, which takes place at the end of August in Eilat and is now in its 25th year, attracts tens of thousands of jazz aficionados from Israel and overseas who come to enjoy great music, jam sessions, master classes, a relaxed atmosphere and all that Israel’s most popular tourist resort has to offer. This year’s festival, which takes place from 21-24 August 2011, features performances by over 20 Israeli and international bands, among them world-renowned jazz performers as well as young local artists.

Special events this year include an open Jazz stage for various musicians at Eilat’s promenade for the city’s residence and its visitors as well as another open stage specifically for young musicians. In celebration of 25 years, “Cinema Jazz” will screen performances that took place during the festival’s 25 years of existence. In addition, there will be a photography exhibition with some of the festival’s greatest moments over the past 25 years, as captured by the festival’s photographers. Chefs Mika Sharon and Avi Schtineitz will conduct the celebratory catering section.

The traditional free midnight jam sessions take place around the pool of the Isrotel Yam Suf, adjacent to the port area. An integral part of the festival’s unique atmosphere, these jazz sessions bring together Israeli and international jazz musicians, much to the delight of hundreds of fans every evening into the small hours.

Every evening at 19:00 guests are welcome to an open concert featuring the best Israeli young jazz groups. Throughout the four-day festival, 3 different concerts will be performed by international and Israeli artists. The concerts will be held in three venues: The CLUB with the capacity of 1,000 seats around tables serving food and beverage, the HALL with 2,000 regular seats and the ARENA with 3,000 seats, overlooking the Red Sea. There are a number of ticketing options including the Wide PASS, allowing 4-day admission to the two big halls and to the club on an availability basis, a daily PASS and single tickets for each concert.

The festival is directed by the Red Sea Tourism Administration, produced by Taluy Ltd and Gov Productions Ltd and supported by Eilat municipality, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Ministry of Tourism, Eilat Port, Eilat Hotel Association and commercial sponsorships.
