Internet company Wix.com ltd has announced their plan to broadcast an advertisement during the television broadcast of the 2015 finals of the National Football League. They will be the second Israeli company after SodaStream to broadcast over the Super Bowl. At $4.5 million per 30-second spot, a Super Bowl advertisement doesn’t come cheap. Wix Vice President of Marketing, Omer Shai, explains why it is a good investment: “In addition to being a huge sports event and the most widely viewed broadcast on US television, the Super Bowl is the arena in which the largest brands display the most expensive and highly developed advertisements of the year, and we’re very excited to be part of it…A campaign like this is a gigantic challenge, but challenges are what get our marketing department going.”
Wix, a website builder, makes site semplates and web apps directed largely towards individuals and small businesses. It enables them to build inexpensive websites without any knowledge of coding. Its initial public offering in 2013 was the largest-ever IPO for an Israeli firm at the time, raising $127m. It is currently traded at a $668m market cap.
We look forward to seeing the campaign they come up with!
