Dark Web and Its’ Impact on Security
The dark web, while often spoken about, is not well understood by the general public. With some legitimate uses, it is often more well known for being home to the selling and buying of drugs, other crimes. However, one of the more widely known uses is “buying and selling stolen information like user login credentials, sensitive personal information like social security numbers, payment card information,” as described by Verizon. This threat, while widely known, is still not always adequately addressed, and as we saw with the recent hack of AT&T, is having a huge impact on millions of Americans, and they may not even know it.
Israeli Technology Addressing the Issue
Already known as one of the world leaders in cybersecurity innovation, Israeli technology companies are always looking to make advancements toward making the digital world safer for the average person. This field requires constant monitoring and innovation within already existing technologies. We might not be hearing about it constantly, but most cybersecurity companies focused on threat detection are, at least in some form, monitoring threats on the deep and dark web. The companies helping to drive innovation in this area include:
- Cybersixgill continuously collects and exposes the earliest possible indications of risk moments after they surface on the clear, deep, and dark web. The company’s extensive body of threat intelligence data can be consumed through various solution offerings and integrations, each addressing critical customer pain points and use cases.
- KELA’s mission is to provide 100% real, actionable intelligence on threats emerging from the cybercrime underground to support the prevention and neutralization of digital crimes. Its success is based on the integration of proprietary automated technologies and qualified intelligence experts.
- Focusing more on law enforcement and government, Cobwebs’ helps in identifying web relations, criminal activities, and cyber terrorist threats. The company works with clients from all corners of the world with diverse needs and goals, assisting them with investigations and analysis of targeted data. Its range of products offer everything from a supportive starting point for targeted web data search to extraction of vital intelligent insights and real-time alerts of relevant events.
- Lumi Networks helps law enforcement and other government agencies reveal digital criminals, regardless of the tools they are using to cover their tracks. Based on groundbreaking new technology, the Lumi suite not only exposes illicit activities on the Internet, but also reveals the identities of the criminals behind them.
- Nucleon Cyber has developed a complete infrastructure-as-a-service solution, providing global enterprises and government entities with unified deception-based cyber protection against sophisticated cyber-attacks by collecting and analyzing current threats on the internet.
