The International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) is hosted annually in Sydney, and is arguably Australia’s premier mining event. At IMARC 2024 the Israel Trade and Economic Commission in Australia was pleased to assist three Israeli companies attending: Helios, Coreteel, and Razorlabs.
Australia’s mining sector faces various challenges, among these are high operating and labour costs (especially fly-in fly-out staff being transported to remote areas), and environmental concerns such as scarring of the landscape and the disposal or storage of tailings and other waste, as well as erosion and wear and tear on expensive equipment. Australian companies can benefit greatly by engaging with companies that provide innovative solutions to address such problems. To this end, Israel has much to offer the Australian mining sector, and while not having any mining, its great resource is the technological knowhow of its people.
Each of the three Israeli companies that attended IMARC has a unique value proposition for Australian mining companies. Helios produces Green iron, that is to say it produces iron with zero carbon emissions, in contrast to the normal smelting process of iron which produces vast carbon emissions and uses metallurgical coal, a fossil fuel. Australian iron ore mining companies were enthusiastic to meet with Helios whose solution could revolutionise the Australian mining landscape. Helios was invited to speak on several panels which highlights the level of engagement with their solution from accross the sector.
Razor Labs is an Israeli company that specializes in developing advanced technological solutions based on artificial intelligence for industrial equipment. Their primary focus is on predictive maintenance solutions for the mining industry. Razor Labs develops AI-powered solutions that can predict potential equipment failures before they occur. This helps mining companies reduce unplanned downtime, improve operational efficiency, and enhance safety. Razor labs already has a presence in Australia and has been attending IMARC with a dedicated booth for several years.
Coreteel is the developer of a single-component protective coat for preventing metal corrosion. The company’s product creates a cover that actively integrates threats into itself, much like an immune system. The product has no chemical toxicity, no flashpoint risk, and no explosive potential. It can be used to treat large-scale infrastructures, reduce application costs, and prevent harm to the environment. It can be applied using any method, including spray guns, paint rollers, air sprays, and brushes. Coreteel’s solution was received with great enthusiasm by stakeholders at IMARC.
Each of these three companies has much to offer the Australian mining ecosystem. For more information please contact Will william.lyall@israeltrade.gov.il
