Westpac has teamed up with Israeli fintech company PayKey to revolutionise mobile banking in Australia.
Based on PayKey’s technology, Westpac will launch this week a new mobile chat service, known as Westpac Keyboard. The Westpac Keyboard allows the default keyboard in popular messaging apps such as Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Twitter, SnapChat and WeChat, to be replaced with an interface displaying payment options. The Westpac Keyboard can also be used in SMS.
PayKey’s innovation makes paying friends, family members and businesses easier. Speaking with The Australian Financial Review, Westpac’s consumer banking chief executive, George Frazis, has identified the Westpac keyboard as a first for the Asia-Pacific region.
